Kickboxing Classes for Teens & Adults: Ages 14+
Art of Kickboxing provides women’s kickboxing classes designed for complete beginners and focused on developing practical self-defence skills for our students, Our kickboxing classes differ from the numerous cardio kickboxing classes in Metro Vancouver, as our class focus is learning the martial art of kickboxing with proper technique and kickboxing drills.
These classes are perfect for:

- Those who want to learn how to fight and defend themselves in a violent self-defence scenario.

In our classes, you’ll feel more capable and assertive, develop self-esteem and mental resilience, all while learning the martial art of kickboxing.

FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I sign up for a membership at Art of Kickboxing?
You can text or call 604-805-3382, message us on WhatsApp, or visit us in person at 4471 No. 6 Road, Unit #125a, Richmond, BC to enroll your children. We’ll provide you with one free trial class —no commitment required. Just show up ready to learn!
2. Do I need prior kickboxing experience to join?
Not at all! Art of Kickboxing’s classes are designed for complete beginners, so no previous experience in kickboxing or fitness is required. Our coaches have extensive experience in training complete beginners and are very patient and passionate when teaching.
3. Why Should Women Learn Kickboxing?
There are many benefits of kickboxing for women, such as learning something new, making new friends, and staying fit. However, the knowledge from learning how to fight in a self-defence scenario may be the most invaluable benefit. Although men are more likely to be victims of violence, numerous studies show that women are significantly more likely to be victims of intimate violence specifically. Women who know how to fight may have significantly more success in defending themselves in a violent self-defence situation simply because the average person doesn’t have any martial arts training or knowledge.
4. Is 1-on-1 Personal Training Available?
Yes! For those who prefer to learn or train alone, we provide private 1-on-1 personal training sessions for Kickboxing, Boxing, Muay Thai, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Our personal training availability is typically in the morning, due to our classes being held in the afternoon. Here are our pricing plans.
5. What happens if I miss a class?
We have no issues with students missing classes, and they can continue with the next class or attend classes when they feel like it. We understand that everyone’s schedules outside of classes may be different, and therefore, there are times when students may be unable to attend class or don’t want to attend class for whatever reason. There’s no need to feel guilty for missing a class, however there may be some key lessons missed, but we’ll try our best to catch the students up.
6. Are Teenage Girls Welcome?
Yes! We absolutely welcome teenage girls (+14) to join our women’s kickboxing classes. We highly encourage both teen girls and women to train with us at Art of Kickboxing. For parents who want to enroll their daughters in our classes to develop self-defence skills, feel free to contact us. Additionally, our teens & adults monthly membership gives full access to all our non-kids kickboxing, boxing, Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) classes, where both teen girls (14+) and women can join.
7. I have Health or Developmental Conditions, can I still Join?
Although our classes are very safe, as they are designed for beginners, those who have health or developmental conditions should consult a medical doctor before starting classes at Art of Kickboxing, with respect for your safety. If the medical doctor believes that it is safe for you to participate in martial arts classes, we welcome you to join us and will do our best to accommodate you!
8. Is There Sparring in the Class?
No. There is no sparring in our women’s kickboxing classes. Women who want to try light sparring can talk to one of our coaches to see if they’re ready to spar. Light sparring would be done in our co-ed kickboxing classes; however, only those who we feel are safe enough to spar will be allowed to spar. We highly prioritize safety, and everyone who participates in sparring should understand the risks involved.
9. Is Kickboxing Good for Weight Loss?
Kickboxing is extremely fitness-intensive. Many fitness enthusiasts struggle with the intensity of kickboxing training for the first time due to how different it is as a physical activity. Kickboxing can definitely provide the caloric burn you may need to boost your weight loss plan. However, like with every weight loss plan, it’s all about calories in and out. If you’re consistently consuming more calories than you burn, you will most likely struggle to lose weight.
10. What makes Art of Kickboxing’s Women-Only Kickboxing Classes stand out in Metro Vancouver?
Art of Kickboxing teaches authentic martial arts, meaning proper kickboxing techniques and self-defence training. While many women-only kickboxing classes in Metro Vancouver focus on cardiovascular health, often called cardio kickboxing. Additionally, our focus on small class sizes of 2-12 means we can focus more on helping each one of our students individually, rather than in large kickboxing gyms which can have up to 20-30 students in a single class, but the coaches are unable to go through each student for personalized attention.
