Why Women Should Learn Kickboxing
Kickboxing: The Perfect Hybrid Martial Art Introduction for Women
Kickboxing as a martial art offers women that haven’t trained in martial arts before, an introduction to a world where you’ll learn how to utilize both your arms and legs to defend yourself in violent self-defense scenarios. Unlike some martial arts that focus exclusively on arms, kickboxing teaches you to utilize both arms and legs for self-defense, making it an exceptionally fluid and comprehensive discipline. Kickboxing is a martial art with roots from Karate, Muay Thai, and traditional Boxing, which is why kickboxing is often called a hybrid martial art. You’ll develop self-defense techniques that empower you with practical skills applicable in real-life violent self-defense situations, and for those interested in MMA competitions one day, kickboxing is often thought as the best striking martial art to combine with grappling arts such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) or wrestling.
Exceptional Full-Body Workout for Women
Beyond the physical benefits, women’s kickboxing provides exceptional stress relief and a transformative full-body workout. The combination of pad work, bag work, and strength-building drills creates an energizing release for both mind and body. Many practitioners report improved mental health and the stress relief comes from releasing tension while building core muscles and overall strength training capacity.
Make New Friends in Metro Vancouver
Meeting new people is another invaluable benefit. Living in Vancouver can sometimes feel isolating, but joining kickboxing classes and gyms connects you with an opportunity to make friends in community-driven programs and support system of like-minded women. These transformation stories and friendships often extend beyond the gym, creating a meaningful social network.
