Private Muay Thai Lessons
1-on-1 Personal Muay Thai Training: What to Expect
Muay Thai Training Details: Eight-Limbs Martial Arts Mastery
Muay Thai is called the “Art of Eight Limbs” because it uses eight points of contact—fists, elbows, knees, and shins—for striking, unlike traditional boxing (two) or kickboxing (four). In self-defence, Muay Thai allows a practitioner to strike effectively from close, mid, and long range, using whatever limbs are available, even in tight or chaotic situations. In our private Muay Thai sessions, you’ll develop skills unique to the martial art of Muay Thai:
Mastery of the Eight Limbs – Learn to strike with punches, elbows, knees, and kicks, using all eight points of contact for maximum versatility. Muay Thai teaches you to fluidly combine these weapons in close, mid, and long range for powerful offense and adaptive defense.
Clinch Fighting & Knee Strikes – Unlike most striking arts, Muay Thai includes a dominant clinch game. You’ll learn to control opponents in close quarters using posture-breaking grips, sharp knees, elbows, and off-balancing sweeps to wear them down or finish the fight.
Elite Practical Self-Defence Techniques – Build elite defensive instincts using high guards, checks, teep kicks, and body positioning. Teep kicks can be used to stop an advancing attacker, create distance, or off-balance them—giving you space to escape or set up a decisive counter. In self-defence, the teep acts like a front-line shield, helping you control distance and prevent someone from closing in on you.

FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What Times are Available for Personal Training Sessions?
Personal training is typically available anytime that we are not holding classes, which means you can expect times around 10:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Saturday. We’re very flexible at Art of Kickboxing, let us know what times you’d like to come in for personal training, and we’ll let you know if that time is available. See our class training schedule.
2. Can I combine different martial arts (like Kickboxing or Muay Thai) within my personal training sessions?
Yes! It’s up to you what you’d like to focus on during your personal training sessions, but we can only generally focus on one request per training session. Many students cross-train by mixing in techniques or scenarios from Muay Thai, kickboxing, BJJ, or MMA—especially in longer packs like the 10 or 12-session options.
3. Can two people share a personal training session if we both want to train together?
For those who want to train together privately, we offer private 2-person group sessions at a different rate. See here for the pricing options. Two-person group sessions are a great option for siblings, parents and kids, couples, or friends training at the same level.
4. What’s the difference between personal training and regular group classes at Art of Kickboxing?
Personal training is fully tailored to what you want to focus on, your goals, pace, and skill level. Group classes follow a structured curriculum and incorporate partnered pad work with different students. In private sessions, you get personalized, detailed corrections, flexible scheduling, and focused attention that’s hard to match in a group environment. They’re great for people who have accessibility needs, such as debilitating health conditions, or even social anxiety.
5. Why Train in Muay Thai instead of Kickboxing or Boxing?
Muay Thai provides a complete striking system that uses punches, kicks, elbows, knees, and clinch techniques, making it uniquely versatile for self-defence. While boxing specializes in refined head movement, slipping, and creating angles to evade punches, and kickboxing focuses on mastering mid-range footwork, punches, and kicks, Muay Thai expands the arsenal with close-range clinch control and devastating elbow and knee strikes, giving you more tools to control, damage, and defend yourself in a violent self-defence scenario at any range.
