10-Session Pack: $850 (Equivalent to $85/Session)
Ten personal training sessions in BJJ give beginners a strong foundation in both fundamental and advanced techniques, including guard passing, sweeps, submissions, escapes, and positional transitions.

12-Session Pack: $960 (Equivalent to $80/Session)
Twelve BJJ personal training sessions allow for deeper technical refinement and situational understanding beyond the fundamentals. In addition to mastering core movements and submissions, you’ll begin to integrate techniques into live drilling and controlled sparring. You’ll also progress into intermediate concepts such as guard retention, counter-attacks, advanced transitions between positions, and strategic sequencing—building a more complete and confident ground game.
If you have a specific self-defence scenario you’d like advice on how to defend yourself against, we’re open to teaching you as well.
For example, you want to learn how you could defend yourself against a violent face-to-face, up-close scenario in an elevator. Feel free to let us know what you’d like to work on.
We also hold Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) classes at Art of Kickboxing, which is included in our membership plans, that means you’ll have access to multiple weekly BJJ, kickboxing, boxing, Muay Thai, and MMA classes in a single membership plan.

BJJ Training Details: Mastering Leverage, Control, and Submissions
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) training focuses on ground control, positional dominance, and effective submission techniques. It teaches how to neutralize opponents using leverage and timing rather than strength, making it ideal for self-defence and competition.
In our private BJJ sessions, you’ll learn to control every phase of a ground fight—takedowns, transitions, chokeholds, joint locks, and submissions—with precision and strategy.
Positional Control and Escapes ✅
Develop the ability to secure and maintain dominant positions such as mount, side control, and back control. Learn efficient escapes from disadvantageous positions to regain control and reset the fight.
Private BJJ instruction ensures that you’ll understand the mechanics of balance, pressure, and movement unique to your body type, in a patient, friendly environment.
Takedowns and Transitions ✅
Train to bring the fight to the ground with clean, efficient, and safe takedowns, then flow seamlessly through practical positions such as chokeholds and joint locks. You’ll refine timing, grip control, and transitions that maintain pressure while minimizing openings for counters.
Submissions & Finishing Techniques ✅
Master the art of joint locks and chokes, from basic armbars and triangle chokes to advanced submissions and positional setups. Each technique is taught with attention to detail and safety, helping you develop confidence and precision in both offence and defence.

FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What Times are Available for Personal Training Sessions?
Personal training is typically available anytime that we are not holding classes, which means you can expect times around 10:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Saturday. We’re very flexible at Art of Kickboxing, let us know what times you’d like to come in for personal training, and we’ll let you know if that time is available. See our class training schedule.
2. Can I combine different martial arts (like Kickboxing or Muay Thai) within my personal training sessions?
Yes! It’s up to you what you’d like to focus on during your personal training sessions, but we can only generally focus on one request per training session. Many students cross-train by mixing in techniques or scenarios from Muay Thai, kickboxing, BJJ, or MMA—especially in longer packs like the 10 or 12-session options.
3. Can two people share a personal training session if we both want to train together?
For those who want to train together privately, we offer private 2-person group sessions at a different rate. See here for the pricing options. Two-person group sessions are a great option for siblings, parents and kids, couples, or friends training at the same level.
4. What’s the difference between personal training and regular group classes at Art of Kickboxing?
Personal training is fully tailored to what you want to focus on, your goals, pace, and skill level. Group classes follow a structured curriculum and incorporate partnered pad work with different students. In private sessions, you get personalized, detailed corrections, flexible scheduling, and focused attention that’s hard to match in a group environment. They’re great for people who have accessibility needs, such as debilitating health conditions, or even social anxiety.
5. Why Train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is one of the most practical and controlled martial arts for real-world self-defence in Vancouver. Unlike striking-based systems that rely on punches or kicks, BJJ focuses on leverage, control, and submissions to neutralize threats safely. It allows you to take down and restrain a violent aggressor with minimal harm, making it effective for both personal protection and professional use.
In BJJ, you learn how to close distance, control an opponent, and resolve confrontations without unnecessary striking or escalation—an important skill in crowded urban environments or situations under legal scrutiny. This approach makes BJJ ideal for everyday citizens, first responders, and security personnel who must prioritize safety and restraint. Training in BJJ builds confidence, situational awareness, and the ability to protect yourself or others while keeping everyone as safe as possible. It’s not about aggression—it’s about control, composure, and effective self-defence.
